I am honored to have been nominated to serve
PCPA as President. In my
time working in student affairs, I have leaned how vital our work is to
students as they develop during college and it would be a privilege for
me to lead PCPA. Should I be elected president, I would like to
continue our traditions of representing student affairs professinals
across the commenwealth, providing affordable and accessible
professional development opportunities, and providing a forum for
student affairs professionals to nework and share resources. PCPA has
been an essential part of my career in students affairs for the past
three years, and I am excited for the opportunity to repay the
organization for all that is has done for me. Thank you for your
consideration. |

I would greatly appreciate the opportunity to
continue my involvement as Constituencies Commission Chair for PCPA. I
established the "Constituencies Commission Corner" as a regular column
in the PCPA newsletter as a way of informing the PCPA membership of new
legislation, current issues, and issues that impact the experience of
traditionally oppressed groups. If re-elected, I will focus on
invlovling interested members in tracking current legistation and
issues and provide the opportunity for quests to author the
"Constituencies Commission Corner" column. |

I
realize that I am new to both PCPA, as well as working as a
professional; however, I have a passion an love for what I do. I
believe it is essential to continuously evaluate oneself and grow as a
professional, in order to better serve our students and peers. As a new
professional, I believe I am in a position to develop excellent ideas
to help all memebers of PCPC grow both professionally and personally. I
am extremely interested in the opportunity to serve as Chair of the
Porfessional Development Committee, and know that my enthusiasm and
ideas can help serve the members of PCPA. |

Marking my 25th year in Student Affairs, 2010
promises to be a
“milestone year!”
Beginning in 1984, as an intern in the
Office of Orientation at University of Michigan, student affairs has
been my
passion. After earning an A.B. from Michigan, I moved east to Boston.
While working at Boston University, I earned an Ed.M. in Policy,
Planning, and Administration-Higher
Education Administration.
Discovering the “joys” of
research and thinking critically about issues in higher education in my
masters program, I decided to purse a Ph.D. at New York
University--while I didn't
complete the dissertation, the time spent in the doctoral program was
well spent.
For the past 11 years, I have worked at Community College
of Philadelphia in a variety of position within Student Affairs. I
bring a collaborative, broad-view approach to student affairs. I have
brought this outlook to my work with PCPA - especially
serving the last four years as the 2-Year East Member at Large on the
Executive Board. While always keeping the student perspective front and
center, I have worked
in a variety of positions – both within (orientation, parent
programs, registrar, campus information, student activities) and
outside (institutional advancement, academic affairs, community
relations) of student affairs. It would be an honor to continue to
serve PCPA as the
